Summer is my favorite team of the year for Reality TV. After a long day of work coming home to see some of these shows always helps me decompress. Keep reading to find your new guilty pleasure this summer!
1. Big Brother Season 23 — I could not make this list without being sure to include this show! Big Brother is the end all be all of Summer reality tv. This competition-based reality show put houseguest against each other week after week. Alliances are born and broken, lies are spun, rumors are spread, and guests are blindsided or backdoored in the quest for $500,000. If you love a show where you can root for the underdogs, or love to see people backstab each other all in hopes to win then this is the show for you. As Julie Chin Moonves always tells the guest “expect the unexpected” when watching this show! Big Brother premieres on 7/7 at 8 pm on CBS.
2. Love Island Season 3 — This is a dating reality show is based on the British series of the same name. Every week sexy singles are introduced to each other in the hopes of making a lasting pair. Couples compete together in a variety of games and challenges hoping to win advantages and grow their connections. Whoever doesn't make a connection ends up single for the week and at risk of being sent home. After weeks of growing their relationships, America then has the chance to vote for their favorite couple to win the $100,000. This show moves quickly and airs 5 nights a week! Watch the drama unfold Monday — Friday at 10 pm on CBS starting 7/7!
3. Too Hot To Handle Season 2 — This series follows a cast of “sexy singles” who love to wear the least, have provocative parties, and sunbathe. What more can they ask for? The big twist though is these singles must refrain from any sexual activity, including kissing, for the entire season. If they are successfully able to keep their hands off of each other, they could walk away with $100,000 worth of prize money to split. If they aren't successful….money is deducted from the pot. Forcing these singles to remove sex from the equation the hope is that these sexy singles can develop deep, personal connections despite their tendency for flings and one-night stands in the real world. This show premieres on 6/23 on Netflix with 4 episodes dropping every Wednesday.
4. RuPaul’s Drag Race All-Stars — One of my all-time favorite shows is moving to the new Paramount+ streaming service this summer. Drag Race All Stars is a reality competition spin-off of the original RuPaul’s Drag Race. In this edition of the show, RuPaul welcomes past queens who competed on the original show. In each episode of contestants complete in a mini-challenge, where the winner earns an advantage in the maxi challenge, a maxi challenge, which determines who will be at risk of being eliminated, and a lip-sync where the nominees have one last chance to save themselves All in hopes on winning the grand prize of $100,000, a spot in the Drag Race Hall of Fame and a one-year supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills cosmetics. The season being June 24th with new episodes available every Thursday.
5. Married at First Sight — Just as the title suggests, the cast of this show gets married at first sight. Each person gets matched to a complete stranger by a group of relationship experts in hopes of meeting and marrying their soulmate. The experts, who are made up of a spiritualist, a relationship coach, and a sociologist, use scientific matchmaking methods to determine each couple, who will not have met or had contact with each other until the wedding day. The series then follows the couples as they go on their honeymoons and do other relatable events of married life as they try to figure out if they are compatible. After several weeks, each couple must decide whether to remain together or end the marriage. This show airs on Lifetime Wednesday 7/21 at 8 pm.
